Congratulations to the Cashton Boy Scout Troop 60 for being the largest group to participate in the KVR roadside clean-up. They will be awarded a “Bucket of Beverages” for their efforts. The Friends of the Kickapoo Valley Reserve held a nature poetry contest for grades 3rd-8th in recognition of Earth Day. Over forty entries were received. Thank you to all who contributed to our 2015 year end appeal. It was our most successful campaign to date. Over $7000 was contributed to support activities and programs at the Kickapoo Valley Reserve.
In spite of snow, many people turned out to view over 300 mini-canvases created by local artists on March 4. Candlelight set a lovely mood, Friends provided tasty appetizers. The Silent Auction sold 41 pieces; the other works were available for online bids through March 26.
One of Janet Kruk’s final activities as a Board member was to create a digital display of KVR photo contest entries. In the past months, people in La Farge have been able to view the display at the clinic, library and bank. Many have stopped in the midst of their busy day to soak in the beauty of the Reserve.
