Another Photo Contest Coming! Another photography contest will be coming soon to the Kickapoo Valley. The Friends of the Reserve is once again helping to sponsor a photo contest to show the beauty of the Valley. Last year's contest featured fence themed entries and attracted lots of entrants. (Jerry Quebe's winning photo is shown above) A new theme and some changes in categories will be coming this year with a starting date for entries of September 1st. More details will be coming soon!
Home Wine Making Join David Mitchell, owner of a wine shop and vineyard, as he desribes how to make your own wine at home with simple ingredients. This opening program of the Driftless Dialogue II series will be held on Tuesday, August 5 at the KVR Visitor Center. Refreshments and socializing begins at 6:30 p.m.
Driftless Dialogue II Begins in August The Kickapoo Valley Reserve is hosting a series of programs called Driftless Dialogue II. Two programs will be held in August beginning with Home Wine-Making on Tuesday, August 5. A program featuring Hmong Culture will be held later in the month. In September, Dr. Bob Norton will host a discussion on Hunting Ethics. Programs will continue in the series on a monthly basis into 2009. Check the calendar for more details.
DAM CHALLENGE NEWS You can register on-line for the 2008 KVR Dam Challenge to be held Saturday, October 4. The Challenge includes a 7 mile canoe trip on the Kickapoo River, a 14 mile road bike route, and ends with a three mile trail run through the hills of the Reserve. Register on-line at http://kvr.state.wi.us. Early registration is open through September 17.
